I thought the Flagg role was very miscast, so he didn't scare me.

Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, Laura San Giacomo, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Miguel Ferrer, Matt Frewer, Rob Lowe, Ray Walston and...

Jamey Sheridan??

I'm curious...who would you have liked to see as Flagg?

In the DVD commentary the filmmakers said they went for an unknown intentionally but apparently it backfired. I thought he had the right look for the part but the acting was probably lacking...he didn't really scare me all that much either.

Maybe him, if we still wanted an unknown (he's unknown, but you know the face.

I could see him pulling off the range of emotions in Flagg.

There was scarier stuff in the book but some of it couldn't be show onscreen back then. Maybe nowdays or maybe on cable now.

IE The Zoo, the crucifixion scene, several of the army suppression scenes.

I've heard the comments about the film casting...a few on Flagg and some on Frannie was well. Hard for me to say for sure, I'm not terribly good at that sort of thing unless I pick up cues from other viewers/reviews or see something that really blatantly stands out at me.

Loved GS as Stu and some of the other roles were well done though.

I don't remember the Zoo. Was that in the uncut version? or Both? I haven't read the uncut book yet.

The uncut version.

I can tell you about it if you want but dont' want to spoil it so it's up to you.

I know this is old, but there is an uncut version? I have the DVD but I don't remembered seeing the part with the zoo.

That part didn't make it to the movie, unfortunately, it's only in the uncut version of the novel.

I didn't think any of the movie was really scary. I liked it a lot. They did better adapting The Stand to film better than most of his books. Considering that The Stand is my all time favorite book, I may be a bit biased. :P

I can't hear that song without thinking about that book!
